Pantry Storage - What is decanting? and why?

Decanting is the removal of something from its original packaging into another. I LOVE decanting, for many reasons. Not only is it visually appealing, it has so many benefits that aren’t just aesthetics.

HERE’s why I love it and you will to:

  1. See everything you have available

  2. Less wastage

  3. Better stock rotation

  4. Save on groceries and avoid double ups!

  5. Place measuring cup inside flour (takes up less space in that pesky drawer).

But what about expiration dates I hear you ask?

My top solutions for expiry date management:

  1. Paper masking tape behind the jar (3M brand) and write with a marker

  2. Write it on the back of the container with a whiteboard marker

  3. Cut the product labels and place inside

  4. Use special ‘use by date’ labels (I can custom order and supply these for your pantry refresh project)

Keeping products in their original packaging is perfectly fine too!
